Travelling here by car by the direct route using State Highway 1 and State
Highway 10, the journey time from Auckland is about four hours without
stops. Travelling the Twin Coast Discovery Highway - a world-class touring
route leaving from, and returning to, Auckland - requires at least two
days in each direction to visit the many interesting and beautiful attractions

When you reach Doubtless Bay on SH10, leave the turn offs for Mangonui township on the right. Continue through Coopers Beach and Cable Bay. After crossing the single-lane bridge across Taipa River, take the second turning on the right by Taipa Area School into Mamaru Road and then the first turning left by the Multi-cultural Centre into Adamson Road. Taipa Sands Motel is on the right-hand side.
There are one or two daily return flights from Auckland to Kaitaia Airport (about a half hour drive away) and four or five daily return flights to Kerikeri Airport (about 45 minutes drive) operated by Air New Zealand Link. There is also a daily bus service to and from Auckland which sets down in Taipa (ask to be dropped at the end of Ngati Kahu Road). Rental cars are available at Kaitaia and Kerikeri Airports.
